Daily Devotional - July 10th

Jul 10, 2024 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Daily Read - 1 Chronicles 9:1-10:14; Acts 27:21-44; Psalm 8:1-9; Proverbs 18:23-24

You cannot read the following psalm without wanting to shout it from a mountaintop! Everything within dances in excitement to know the God who created the heavens and earth.  He also created us and gave us dominion over the works of His hands. How awesome is that?

In your travels today, take time to stop and praise Him for His creation. Take just a few minutes and allow your senses to experience the wonder of the day. Whether you watch someone feed pigeons in the park or listen to the giggles of a toddler playing in the sprinkler, it is all a wonderful picture from our Father.

Life's flowers bloom everywhere and release amazing fragrances of His overwhelming goodness, but we must take time to stop and breathe in the aromas. Around every corner, another flower awaits discovery. The Lord places love letters in His creation waiting for us to not only discover them, but to read about His extravagant love for us. He kisses each one with a different fragrance of His grace.

How many of His letters go unopened because of a life too busy to even notice? It is now time to take the time to notice. Let us all journey outside ourselves into the vastness of life and breathe it all in. As you exhale, shout Psalm 8 and let it echo through the busy city streets; down through the green mountain valleys; through the open lush meadows; and from the high mountaintops. O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8
1 O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen - Even the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!
