Proverbs 18:8
The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
And they go down into the inmost body.

Oh, how the flesh loves the taste of dainty morsels of gossip and slander. It gorges itself upon the ruin of others while forgetting it could be the next meal. As one feeds on the rebellious murmurings of a talebearer, a spiritual phenomenon takes place. Their words transform from a tasty treat into treacherous treason as it enters and finds its way into the depths of the soul.

No longer does idle talk translate into harmless chatter but turns into something much more sinister. The soul becomes infected with decay unless stopped and washed in the cleansing blood of Christ. If we continue listening to slander and baseless rumors, we most certainly will give an account. When we give ear to these things, it actually makes us an accomplice and active participant.

Angels not only stand guard by our side, but record every word that flows from the issues of our heart. Do we really want slanderous gossip to be on our permanent record in heaven? I think not. Do we really want these words penetrating into the innermost parts of our soul taking up space? Absolutely not!

So, what can we do about it? We repent to our merciful and forgiving Jesus. In a moment, He brings deliverance to all areas of our heart cleansing each with His precious and redeeming blood. The Lord even changes our hunger cravings from that of malicious murmurings to wholesome Godly conversation.

There is a daily menu presented to us. Will we choose the blue-plate special with its heart clogging ingredients, or will we choose to eat from God's nutritious life-giving banqueting table?

Let us choose His feast.
He already paid the bill!
