Daily Read - 1 Kings 2:1-3:2; Acts 5:1-42; Psalm 125:1-5; Proverbs 16:25

 Acts 5:29-30
But Peter and the other apostles answered and said:
"We ought to obey God rather than men."

When the Holy Spirit and fire comes upon someone, they are unstoppable for My Kingdom. Circumstances can't discourage them; trials can't shake them; persecution can't deter them; and hell can't overtake them. My Spirit brings empowerment to overcome and to boldly take ground for My plans and purposes.

The early church understood this power and walked in it every day. The more the enemy persecuted them, the more emboldened they became. The religious system of that day could not douse the burning flames of transformation that burned ferociously within each of them. Nothing the enemy threw at them could veer them from their mission to fulfill the great commission.  When confronted with threats and accusations, each would arise declaring their undying allegiance to their God and Savior. Never once did they flinch or question in whom they believed. Whether they faced beatings, hunger, pain, or hard ship, they chose to obey Me rather than man.

Fire refines gold and pressure releases the oil from the fruit. Persecution brings My people face to face with their commitment to Me. It causes the gold to shine and the oil of the Spirit to flow. When My people get to the place where they listen to and obey Me above everything and everyone else in their lives, then My glory begins to pour out from their lives.

Regardless of what man says or does, obedience is the key that unlocks the door to My power. Regardless what the enemy says or does, remain faithful to Me and you will begin to experience the boldness and courage the early church possessed.

The world around you will never be the same!

Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help in areas of my life where I find myself timid and soft spoken when challenged about my faith or when I hear someone maligning Your precious name. I desire to walk in the boldness demonstrated by the early church. I want more of Your fire released in and through me. Rather than whimpering in a corner when persecuted, I want to courageously stand up for righteousness and truth. I desire to exemplify Your fiery love even when persecuted. I want to shine as pure gold, but I know I must go through the fire of refinement. I am willing to pay the cost involved to become a vessel of honor in Your eyes. No matter what, I want to declare my faith in You before heaven and earth, "I choose to obey God rather than man!" Amen!
