Daily Devotional - January 8th

Daily Read “ Genesis 18:16-19:38; Matthew 6:25-7:14; Psalm 8:1-9; Proverbs 2:6-15
All good and perfect gifts come from the Father of Lights. I am a good Father who has your best interests at heart; after all, you come from My heart. I know exactly what you need and when you actually need it. My character is impeccable and I always carry through on every promise. You can rely on My love and faithfulness because I am a God of integrity.
If you could grasp the depths of My love, you would trust Me with your every request. Instead, there are times when you run to others with your petitions before coming to Me. You don't yet fully trust Me or you would run to Me first. It's all about relationship!
When you seek Me, you find Me, not someone or something else. This is My promise to you. Yet, I watch the world lure you away from My presence. I grieve to see how you recklessly seek after the temporal only to watch the winds of adversity blow it away. I am sure and steady no matter what storm heads your way. I am not a mirage that appears when you have sun-shiny days only to disappear at the first sign of clouds. I am here to stay, but you don't fully believe this because you seek others first. It's all about relationship!
This New Year brings many doors of opportunity, but not all are from Me. It brings Me great pleasure to open doors of blessing for you, but if you knock on the wrong door, it will not open. If you ask of Me and seek My face, I will show you which opportunities come from Me and which ones don't.
Many times, you have fallen prey to discouragement and disappointment because you sought your ways and not My face. You knocked on doors that appealed to your natural mind instead of allowing My Spirit to lead you to the right ones. It is all about relationship!
I want to pour so many more blessings over you, but you need to ask, seek, and knock. I will give, give, and give.
Heavenly Father, You are very good. Forgive me for running to others for answers before coming to You. Who knows me better than You? You know my needs, wants, and desires. In fact, you know everything there is to know about me. You have the answers before I even ask the questions. Why would I even think to run to anyone, but You? Why would I seek after a worldly mirage when you are the one who remains the only constant in my life? Forgive me for trying to force the wrong door to open to fulfill my ways. Thank You for extending Your grace and mercy to bolt those doors shut preventing me from shipwreck. I embrace Your fathering love and I ask You for my every need. Teach me how to be Your child.
Matthew 7:7-11
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock,
and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds,
and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Or what man is there among you who,
if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
