Psalm 100:4-5
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
Thankfulness is a powerful weapon against the enemy of
self. When you are full of thanks, there is no room for
self.
Self loves the best seat in the house and the most visible position in the room. It longs to be stroked and coddled thriving on the attention.
Self enjoys feeling sorry for itself.
Self feeds on recognition and requires validation. It lusts and craves for the best of everything and shares all the reasons why it is so deserving.
Self is blinded to the needs of others unless those needs can somehow credit
self. There is only one god that
self gives thanks to and that is
self.
Self loves to perch itself on the throne of the heart until
self realizes that it is not enough and gives up for trying.
If you are exhausted and worn out from living for
self, it is time to nail it to the cross and crucify it. To insure that
self remains dead and buried, fill your mouth with praise and thanksgiving.
Give thanks for all things and bless the name of the Lord. Let your thanks come in the morning, in the evening and through the day in between. Allow praise to fill you up to such a degree that
self will not be able to breathe!
Praise the Lord for His goodness and His everlasting mercy. Praise Him for His mercy and grace. Thank Him for who He is in your life.
Be so full of thanks there is no room for self.
All rooms filled --- No Vacancy!
Precious Lord, thank You, thank You, thank You! Forgive me for walking in self-centeredness. I ask that You show me when self is about ready to jump on the throne of my heart. I want to nail that thing before it nails me. Holy Spirit, remind me each day to review my blessings and to give praise and thanks to God for every one of them. When I awaken, I will thank You; when I lay my head down at evening, I will thank You; and when I walk out the day in between, I will thank You. You are a good and gracious God! Amen!
