Daily Read - 2 Chronicles 1:1-3:17; Romans 6:1-23; Psalm 16:1-11; Proverbs 19:20-21
Romans 6:12-13
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin,
but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead,
and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
As you begin your day, there is good news: the real you is dead to sin! As a born again believer, your spirit man is alive to the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and dead to sin, no longer a slave to its lusts. The fact of the matter is Christ redeemed us with His cleansing, all powerful, precious blood setting us free from sin. Praise God!
However, why does there seem to be an ongoing battle with sin? At times, it can almost appear as though sin wins out! Well, the problem does not lie with our redemption, the problem lies with a soul that refuses to submit to the control and Lordship of Christ.
The spirit man of a blood washed believer is perfect and walks in righteousness and holiness. It is the temple of the Trinity sealed by the precious Holy Spirit. It fully understands how to live a sinless life; however, it battles the soul for control of our lives.
The soul houses our mind, will, and emotions. It wants what it wants when it wants it! The Lord gives us dominion over all things, which includes our soul. We not only have the authority, but the responsibility to speak to our soul and command it to comply with the Spirit of God. In other words, we must tell ourselves to get a grip, straighten up, and submit to the will of God.
The Word tells us to stop presenting ourselves as instruments to unrighteous behavior, but instead present ourselves as living sacrifices to God. We have a choice in this matter and our spirit man waits for us to decide who we want at the command center of our life.
Obedience to the instructions of the Lord brings major transformation and breakthrough in our life. When we make the conscience determination to submit ourselves completely to Christ, immediately our spirit man kicks into high gear and takes over. Wow, talk about transforming our day!
Take a few moments to read the following prayer aloud and watch how quickly your soul shifts into right order today.
Dear Heavenly Father, I present my members; spirit, soul and body to You as a living sacrifice, I speak to my mind, will, and emotions and command them to submit to Your plans and purposes for my life today. I refuse to allow my soul to control my thoughts and actions, but I submit all to You on the altar. In addition, I present all members of my body on Your altar. I declare every part of my triune being submitted to Your sovereignty and Almightiness. I command myself to come into right order and I give my spirit man permission to rise up and take control.  In Jesus Name, Amen!
