Proverbs 26:20-22
For lack of wood the fire goes out,
and where there is no whisperer, contention ceases.

 As coals are to hot embers and as wood to fire,
so is a quarrelsome man to inflame strife.
 [Proverbs 15:18; 29:22.]

The words of a whisperer or slanderer are like dainty morsels or words of
sport [to some, but to others are like deadly wounds];
and they go down into the innermost parts of the body [or of the victim's nature].
Amplified Version

What do you inflame - the fire of Holy Spirit or the fire of contention? Do you surrender your lips to the whispers of slander and gossip or may I use them to bless?

I hear it all. The quietest whisper becomes the loudest clanging cymbal when carried upon the winds of malicious talk.

Do your words embolden or diffuse the quarrelsome man? Those who give voice to their offense fuel strife. The enemy builds his case against those he targets and uses the offended to hit his bull's-eye.  Have you been doing his bidding?

Giving ear to the whisperer is as grievous as being the whisperer. Ask My Spirit to put a guard over your ears and lips sealing them from the secrets of the whisperer.

The words of the slanderer may seem innocent and feel good to the flesh, but when swallowed, they carry poison to your innermost parts.

You will witness contention ceasing as you release My blessings through your mouth. My blessing will douse the flames of strife and will ignite the flames of My Spirit.

Shouts of victory will replace the quiet whispers. Unity will shout from the housetops, "The enemy's been defeated and dethroned and Father's will has been done on earth as it is in heaven!"
 My Kingdom Come!

Lord Jesus, I surrender my mouth to You. Take it and use it for Your glory. I want to use my mouth to release Your fire everywhere I go. I refuse to fuel the fire of contention. Lord Jesus, I surrender my ears to You. Take them and use them for Your glory. I consecrate my ears to hear Your voice. I refuse to give ear to slander and gossip. I refuse to sow discord in the body of Christ. I am one who uses my mouth to bless. Amen!
